| Mercedes C-Class – stylish and comfortable |
9 Jan |
The Mercedes C-Class has filled a significant gap in the stylish, cost effective end of the market and is as an attractive alternative to BMW’s range. Combining sleek looks and quality components, this vehicle comes with all the trimmings of its competitors, while only having a starting price of £19,125.
Holding up the rear are the 1.8litre petrol and 2.0litre diesel engined models, which offer all the pizzazz of their more expensive cousins, but obviously won’t have that extra bite, unless you go for the C200K or the C220CDI. However, the majority of prospective customers would be advised to opt for the 3litre diesel, which pushes out some 224bhp and is sporty, attractive and effective. However, the speed freaks among you would be better choosing the C63, which comes with a rather impressive 6.3litre V8 engine. You can expect to pay at least £50,000 for the privilege of calling one of these your own.
Of course, surface looks are only half the beauty of the C-Class; its majestic road handling is also what will turn heads. What appears to be a regular standard looking saloon shows a completely different side on the open road. Granted, it is not going to live up to the BMW 7 series when it comes to feel and driving comfort, but there are very few cars, if any, in this sector that will make driving such a pleasurable experience.
Passengers, if you haven’t already forgotten about them, will also enjoy the ride, as there is plenty of legroom and comfortable seats in the back. The estate model will easily be able to handle large families with lots of baggage; a 1,500litre boot will swallow almost anything you might try to throw at it. The top-end models, such as the C63, are not going to provide all the comfort of the more family-based editions and could have you calling for a chiropractor after a few hours driving.
The cost-conscious should note that trips to the petrol pump would come around far more frequently than you might like with the bigger engines. If you are a sucker for the Mercedes badge and the sleek style of the C-Class, one of the smaller engines will prove to be much more fuel-efficient. However, over long journeys, one of the V6 diesels would make a chariot fit for a king. Quite simply, this is the coolest looking and roomiest saloon on the road today.

AMG was once well-known for building and producing one-dimensional cars: really fast on the sprint runs, but quite unbalanced and clumsy in cornering. However, the 21st century AMG is on a different route altogether. AMG, Mercedes-Benz’s hyper-performance division, is now producing full-bodied ultra cars, with the rough edges hewn and smoothed away, such as the SL63 AMG and CLK63 Black series. With the release of the Mercedes-Benz 2010 E63 AMG, rival cars, such as the Cadillac CTS-V and BMW M5, will be likely to get a run for their money. The 2010 E63 AMG is based on the Mercedes-Benz E-class saloon line.
AMG is really formidable when it comes to building engines, but this new E63 is arguably its best work ever. The hand crafted DOHC, 6.2-litre, 8-valve engine of the previous edition comes back puffing with an additional 11 horsepower (it now has 518 horsepower at 6800 rpm). Furthermore, this increase in power also comes with a 12% boost in fuel efficiency.
The new E63 AMG also has an efficiently reworked suspension. This 2010 edition has a new front axle with a track that is 2.2 inches wider than the standard. This boosts the car’s cornering ability, handling, and balance.
Additionally, the engine is matched with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Instead of the traditional torque converter, the transmission is paired to the engine through a wet-plate clutch. This array provides a more efficient connection between the gears and the engine, thus providing a quicker and smoother gear-shift response. There are a variety of settings for the transmission, including sport, sport plus, race mode launch control, manual, and C (which stands for controlled efficiency).
The Mercedes-Benz 2010 E63 AMG is really a remarkable combination of performance and usability.

Leasing a luxurious car such as the Mercedes-Benz could be seen to be quite difficult; however, there are several car leasing companies that lease this type of luxury vehicle. These companies present all the information one might need when considering leasing a Mercedes.
Mercedes-Benz, one of the top car manufacturers in Germany, offers the R-class car, which is described as a luxury multi-activity vehicle. The car is also described as the Grand Sports Tourer and offers a luxury saloon combination with the features of a 4×4 and an MPV. The R Class is available as both long and short wheelbase models and has all the power needed to take on the toughest of driving assignments!
The car has an excellent suspension system that can give you a very smooth ride, with a dexterity and agility you can feel in spite of its size. Mercedes-Benz does not only focus on comfort. They are also concerned with the safety of the driver as well as of the passengers and they provide a Neck Pro system that activates a mechanism for restraining the head upon impact. The R Class also has airbags of high quality. There are two adaptive airbags in the front seat and an optional one for the back seat.
Most of the Mercedes models available from car leasing companies have 36-month terms or more depending on the offer of the company and the request of the lessee. The car is available with two types of lease: a Business Car Lease and a Personal Car Lease.

Mercedes Benz have taken the wrapping off their new top of the range E63 AMG
The powerful 6.3 litre V8 engine that is in the Mercedes E63 has been tweaked even more by Mercedes tuning division commonly known as AMG, to produce 518BHP which is 11BHP more than the current model that it will be replacing. They have also improved the efficiency as well which results in 12% less fuel been used and equates to the MPG rising to 22.4MPG nothing to shout about, but every little helps.
With a 0-62MPh time of around 4.5 and been limited to a staggering 155MPH the New Mercedes Benz E63 AMG hasn’t lost any performance of the older model.
The E63 will be borrowing the Speedshift MCT 7 speed gearbox from the SL63 which also features a wet start-up clutch. This Gear box is only available in these to Mercedes Cars at present. The wet start-up clutch helps for race starts and aides the revving of up to 7,200RPM. This gearbox allows for four different driving modes Sport, Sport Plus, Manual and Controlled Efficiency.
New front and rear axles have improved the handling and give greater stability through corners. New Front suspension struts have also improved the response, and rear air struts ensure that the rear is always kept at the same ride height regardless of the weight inside.
The Mercedes E63 gets some wider front winger over the standard E Class and the lovely 18” AMG alloys. The E63 will be in Mercedes dealerships around September
