Often aspiring drivers make use of private cars owned by their parents or others to practice their driving technique. Private cars used by learner drivers need to be insured for this purpose, so before you let your family member or friend use your car as a learner driver, make sure that you have arranged the appropriate cover.

Usually a learner driver will be using a parent’s car to practice. Parents need to contact their insurers to take out additional cover for this reason. Usually car insurers are fairly sympathetic to this need, but it is essential to arrange the cover in advance. That said, the additional costs for adding a learner driver to your insurance policy may not be cheap.

Another option is to apply for insurance that is specific to learner drivers only, should your current insurance company prove unwilling to extend cover. Learner drivers can even get insurance in their own name for the express purpose of covering their driving while they are still learning.

The dangers of driving an uninsured vehicle are even greater for drivers who are still learning. Many people ignore this fact, thinking that the limited amount of driving the learner will do does not pose enough of a risk to need to take out additional insurance. Yet one uninsured mile on the road can have severe repercussions and it is absolutely essential that learner drivers have the proper insurance in place.

A driving test can be a nerve wracking experience, but it doesn’t need to be. The actual test is quite well defined and follows a definite pattern. Overall, the examiner will be checking that you know the Highway Code and that you are driving safely during the test as well as during the specific exercises. There aren’t any trick questions, and the examiner will not be devious during the test, so all that is necessary to pass is to be safe on the road and remember the Highway Code.

At the beginning of the test, you will meet your examiner and they will check your eyesight and ask you some vehicle safety questions to do with being a driver, in the format of “point this out” or “show me” and “tell me”. The questions will be taken from the regulations published by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and further information about the vehicle is always found in the manufacturer’s instructions.

Once you get underway and onto the road, testing your driving ability is next. This usually takes about 40 minutes and is your chance to demonstrate you can drive safely. Your instructor can choose one of three exercises for you to perform: reversing around a corner, reverse parking or turning in the road. At some point during the test, your examiner will also conduct an emergency stop test, when the conditions are right. Then it is back to the test centre where you will get the verdict.

You can ask your instructor to join you at this point if they weren’t present during the test and, if you were unsuccessful, the examiner will explain to you why you did not pass.

Not many people know this but you can apply for your provisional driving licence up to three months before your 17th birthday. This can be done online through the Directgov website or with the D1 form that you can pick up from your local post office; you will need a passport or other forms to confirm your identity.

Getting your provisional driving licence is the very first step in learning to drive and it is recommended that you train with a qualified driving school in Lincoln or your local area. Booking a driving instructor is the best and quickest way of passing your test, but you can practice driving with your family or friends as long as they are over 21 years old and have held a full driving licence for 3 years; you must also be insured on the car you wish to practise in.

If you choose to practise in a friend or family member’s car, the car must be roadworthy and properly taxed and tested, you must also display learner stickers on both the front and back of the vehicle.

You do not have to worry about these things when you book your lessons with a driving school in Lincoln, as the car will be fully tested, you will automatically be insured on the car and you will receive expert driving advice.

Learning to drive can be quite a scary prospect, but booking lessons with an accredited driving school in Cardiff can help you pass your driving test on your first try. Driving instructors are fully trained and will guide you through all of the practical and theory sides of driving.

When learning to drive with a driving instructor, you will have the pleasure of driving a brand new car which has all of the latest safety features, so you can just relax and learn without worrying about breaking down.

Before you take a driving lesson you should be prepared by wearing the right clothes and shoes; comfortable clothes and shoes are the best and try to avoid steel toe-capped or high heeled shoes as this will impede you’re driving. Also insure that you are alert for your lesson; partying all night isn’t a good way to prepare for your lesson and it could be cancelled if your breathe smells of alcohol.

Taking driving lessons with an accredited driving school in Bury St Edmunds is one the best ways to help you pass your test quickly and safely.

Once you have passed your driving test, you need to make sure you keep on top of your driving skills and make sure you don’t fall into any bad habits, remembering the skills you were taught as a learner driver by your instructor. After you have passed your test you can take a pass plus course offered by your driving school in Liverpool, here you will learn more essential driving techniques which include how to drive safely at night and on a motorway, plus more.

Every year thousands of people in the UK are injured on the roads, either as drivers, passengers or pedestrians, so it’s important to remember basic driving skills you have been taught whether you are a new driver or if you have been driving for many years, so these accidents are reduced. You also need the right attitude when driving, a bad attitude can lead to more careless mistakes been made and more dangerous risks been taken. You need to make sure you stay positive when driving and try not to become stressed out at other drivers, if you stay cool and collected in the car you are more capable of concentrating on any potential hazards and you will be more focused and will be able to better anticipate any hazards.

If you feel that your standard of driving may not be up to scratch or if you are a nervous driver or if you have not driven for a while you can take a driving refresher course at your local driving school in Liverpool. Here a qualified instructor will be able to get you back on track with the skills you require at your pace, you may not need to do a full course however a few lessons may be all it takes to get you where you need to be with your driving ability.

It is recommended that you do your theory test and hazard perception test after just a few lessons because they do not necessarily need practical knowledge and can be learnt from the Highway Code and practicing online.

Once you have passed your theory and hazard perception tests you can they concentrate on your driving test. Most pupils take between 20 and 30 driving lessons before taking their driving test and with driving schools in Bury St Edmunds offering single lessons, block lessons or intensive driving lessons, how you decide to take yours is up to you.

Since the driving test was introduced over 75 years ago 94 million tests have been completed, and with more affordable cars and insurance, as well as cheaper driving lessons the demand is set to grow even further. Driving schools in Liverpool and Birmingham have seen demand grow significantly over the past few years with more and more students taking up driving at a younger age.

Since its introduction in 1935, the driving test has got significantly harder, due mainly to new traffic laws and the introduction of the theory test and hazard perception test. In 1935, 63% of drivers passed their driving test, but by 2004 only 43% of drivers passed the test.

So with over half the driving test takers failing, it is more important than ever to pick a recognised driving school, regardless of whether it’s a driving school in Birmingham or in your local area.

Everyone knows that when you hit 17, all you want to do is be able to drive and gain some independence, none more so than the North East of England which has been seeing an increased number of learner drives over the last couple of years. But before you book your lessons with driving schools in Newcastle or Sunderland you must first obtain a provisional driving licence. This can be obtained by filling out an application form at your local post office or online and you will receive your provisional licence within 10 working days.

It is also recommended that you get yourself a copy of the Highway Code as this will help you for your theory test. Theory tests and Hazard Perception tests can also be practised online, and combining them with your practical driving lessons will give you the greatest chance of passing straight away.

Finding your nearest driving school is easy with the internet, simply use a search engine like Google or a local directory website and type in your location and what you are looking for i.e. ‘driving schools in Sunderland’ and click go. You will be provided with a list of local driving schools and contact information that you can choose from.

Learning to drive gives you the independence to see and do whatever you want without having to rely on anyone else.

Once you hit 17 years old you will probably want to gain some independence and start learning to drive. Before you book your lessons with a driving school in Birmingham, you must have a provisional driving licence. To get this you must fill in the D750 licence application form; this can be obtained at any main post office.

Once you have filled in your application form and paid any fees applicable, you will receive your provisional licence in the post; you can then start your driving lessons. It is also recommended that you buy a copy of the Highway Code as these questions will come up when you take your theory test.

You do not have to take your theory test before having driving lessons as the practical experience of driving a car will help you during the test.

So, once you have your provisional licence you can start taking your driving lessons. Why not book your lessons with your local driving schools in Birmingham today and start gaining you independence, you won’t regret it!
