Used Renaults are a Wise Choice 9

Renault is one of those cars that have been around for a long time.  Often noted for its economy and style, a used Renault makes a good second car and one that will not destroy the family budget.  As with many compact cars, Renault may seem like a car to be used by single people such as new drivers or students.  The truth of the matter is that for many years Renault has been making cars for the whole family.  Who says that the family runabout has to look like well, the family runabout?

Renault is giving its competitors a run for their money on the resale market.  Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Peugeot and Subaru are all keeping an eye on Renault to see what the French carmaker comes up with next.

Purchasing a used car should be pain-free, not an exercise in futility and frustration.  Some buyers prefer to purchase from a private dealer, which has its pros and cons.  One pro being that the price is often much more flexible than at a dealership; one con is that you are rarely offered any sort of warranty.  Regardless of where you buy it, you will notice that the price is certainly right.  Used Renaults are often cheaper to insure, easier to park, and obtaining car finance is a bit easier than on the more expensive models.

As always, a car should be taken for a thorough test drive and be examined by a certified mechanic before the deal is complete.

Renault Scenic Review 17

The original MPV, the Renault Scenic ignited a fierce competitive battle for this corner of the market when it rolled onto the tarmac for the first time – a battle which is just as intense today as it was then. It should get three cheers and a bottle of champagne for remaining one of the best examples of its type available even today.

This car floats serenely over uneven roads and the diesel models calmly manage motorway speeds without so much as breaking into a sweat. The five-seater is lavishly spacious but whilst the seven-seater adds a degree of versatility, third row seats are cramped and suitable chiefly for children. Boot space is acceptable rather than fabulous, but the general sense of space in the car is undeniable.

Today’s Scenics are vastly better in quality than their original ancestors. Interior plastics are soft to the touch and convey a strong sense of high-tech, stylish opulence. When it comes to the driving experience, its height and weight inevitably generate a slight tendency to ‘feel the roll’ when cornering, but the chassis is sturdy and firm and the road grip excellent.

You won’t get many votes for having the coolest car on the block, but you’ll get admiring looks from young and old all the same.
